5-Day Wild West Active Tour
Itinerary
DAY 1: MONDAY
- Your 5 Day Wild Atlantic Way Holiday starts on Monday mornings where you will meet your Tour Guide at the Hunt Museum in Limerick City (the Gateway City to the Wild Atlantic Way).
- The Hunt Museum exhibits artefacts and artworks from 800AD and also features works by Picasso, Renoir and Gaugin.
- We then visit King John’s Castle by land or by water (as Kayaking on the River Shannon is an available option).
- Here you will get to discover 800 years of history, walk ancient castle walls, explore immersive exhibitions, and enjoy panoramic views over the River Shannon.
- After Lunch (we can recommend somewhere nice) we may have time to visit the Limerick’s Treaty City Brewery.
- After a full day in Limerick, we travel to the Loop Head in Co. Clare (about 1.5 hours away), where you stay overnight in the beautiful seaside village of Kilkee.
- We work with high end accommodation, restaurants and activity providers that are locally-owned establishments.
- So you are guaranteed to enjoy a hot shower, comfortable bed and a delicious meal after your days Adventure.
- The evening time is all yours to enjoy a nice meal and some local Irish Pubs.
DAY 2: TUESDAY
- If you wish you can try out some adventure activities like Surfing, Kayaking, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Coasteering (weather dependent).
- Or enjoy a lovely Walking Tour or trip to the Loop Head Lighthouse as this Tour is a true combination of adventure and relaxation.
- The Loop Head Light House has guided ships where the River Shannon meets the Atlantic Ocean since 1670.
- It began as a coal fire on a cottage roof, evolved into a vital maritime station, and later served as a filming location for Star Wars
- Moving on North to Doolin (1-1.5 hours drive) we will stay here overnight.
- Doolin is the home of traditional Irish music, with plenty of music and craic to be had at night.
DAY 3: WEDNESDAY
- Enjoy a trip to the Cliffs of Moher, Ireland’s most visited natural attraction — 214-metre limestone walls dropping vertically into the Atlantic, stretching for 14km along the Clare coastline.
- Later, we will enjoy a trip to the Aillwee Burren Experience, a sprawling complex featuring underground caves, a bridged chasm, a waterfall, and an adjacent Birds of Prey area.
- Or if you are looking for something more adventurous you can try your hand at some Rock Climbing.
- We will again travel further North and stay our third night in Galway, one of Ireland’s most treasured Gems.
DAY 4: THURSDAY
- We will start off with a journey to many of Galway’s Beaches and Bays; Strandhill, Spiddal, Coral Strand as we work our way up to Connemara National Park, which covers some 2,000 hectares of scenic mountains, expanses of bogs, heaths, grasslands and woodlands in County Galway.
- We will rest our bones here after a long day of sightseeing and exploration.
DAY 5: FRIDAY
- Before we make our way back down to Limerick, there is still time to take in some of Ireland’s highlights.
- Watch a sheepdog herding demo, a scenic Cruise on the Corrib and a Visit to Bunratty Castle.
- And finally, we will finish your Active Tour of the Wild Atlantic Way back at the Hunt Museum in Limerick City between 5-6pm.
