An unforgettable Journey along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way that stretches roughly 2,000 km from Kinsale in Cork to Westport County Mayo.
On this incredible Tour you’ll experience a remarkable variety of landscapes and activities, with every stretch of the journey offering something different.
We have a range of activities and experiences from easy, moderate to the more adventurous, so you can choose what suits your preference.
Our 7-Day Active Tour along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way is the perfect mix of sightseeing, culture, activities, history and of course authentic Irish charm.
Itinerary
DAY 1: MONDAY
- Your 7 Day Holiday starts at the Hunt Museum in Limerick City (the Gateway City to the Wild Atlantic Way), where you will be greeted by your Tour Guide.
- We take a quick visit to the Hunt Museum, which exhibits artefacts and artworks from 800AD and features works by Picasso, Renoir and Gaugin.
- Then enjoy a trip to King John’s Castle by land or by water, as Kayaking on the River Shannon is an available option (see below).
- At King John’s Castle you will get to discover it’s history, walk ancient castle walls, explore immersive exhibitions, and enjoy panoramic views over the River Shannon.
- After Lunch (we can recommend somewhere nice) you can take a glimpse at Limerick’s Treaty City Brewery, if you wish.
- After all of that, we travel to beautiful Harbour town of Kinsale, Co. Cork (about 1.5 hours away), where you stay overnight, the perfect place to check in, so you can enjoy a delicious dinner followed by a sunset stroll along the waterfront, a truly magical first night on your Ireland adventure.
SLEEP 1-KINSALE
DAY 2: TUESDAY
- Starting early from Kinsale.
- If you are looking for something relaxing you can enjoy a massage, a gentle walk to Charles Fort or a Harbour Cruise.
- If you want to explore a bit more, you can take a Walking Tour or an E-Bike Tour of Kinsale (additional fee please see below).
- If you would like to do something a bit more active and adventurous, you could try out an amazing Sea Safari, a
Kayaking or Stand Up Paddle Tour in Kinsale (additional fee, please see below). - After lunch, you will get to learn about some facinating history as we take a trip to Blarney Castle, to kiss the Blarney Stone and receive the gift of eloquent speech, also known as the “gift of the gab”.
- We then drive to the historic port of Cobh, where the Titanic last saw dry land in 1912 and experience a Titanic Museum Tour, learning all about the millions of Irish emigrants who sailed in search of a better life.
- Our journey continues to Killarney, where we will stay for the night.
SLEEP 2-KILARNEY
DAY 3: WEDNESDAY
- Today, we start with a visit to Killarney National Park, see it’s lakes by boat, take a walk or cycle or even go by horse back (additional fees – see below).
- Here you will get to see the thousand-year-old yew tree or red deer at Muckross House Gardens and a visit to Torc Waterfalls, some of Ireland’s most spectacular scenery.
- Afterward lunch, we venture around the Dingle Peninsula & Slea Head where you will see some of the most beautiful and unrivalled scenery in Ireland, with amazing views of Sleeping Giant Island, the Blasket Islands, and Beehive Huts dating back to 2000 B.C.
- Regarded as the most beautiful Peninsula in the world by many photographic magazines, Slea Head has some of Ireland’s most fabulous beaches (my favourite beach in the world, Dunquinn) which we will visit and even go for a swim, if you wish. This is definitely one of the highlights of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.
- This area is Gaelic speaking, so you may even get to hear some of the locals converse in this ancient language.
- Dingle is a vibrant harbor town with colorful painted streets, exceptional seafood, and traditional live music pubs, serving as the ideal base to stay for the night.
SLEEP 3-DINGLE
DAY 4: THURSDAY
- As we leave the Mountains of Kerry behind us and cross the mighty Shannon Estuary by ferry, we approach county Clare and new landscapes and adventures begin to emerge.
- We head for the lovely village of Kilkee, on the Loop Head.
- If you wish you can try out some adventure activities here like Kayaking, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Coasteering around the beautiful Bay, exploring it’s many inlets and caves (additional fees – see below)
- Or enjoy a swim and jump into some rock pools (only if you want).
- If you would like a more relaxing morning you can go on a Walking Tour or a Trip to the Loop Head Lighthouse.
- Or why not take a Coastal Sauna as this is a true combination of adventure and relaxation.
- Following this, we can recommend somewhere nice for lunch.
- Moving on North to Doolin (1-1.5 hours drive) we will settle here for the night.
- Doolin is also the home of traditional Irish music, with plenty of music and craic to be had at night.
SLEEP 4: DOOLIN
DAY 5:FRIDAY
- Enjoy a trip to the Cliffs of Moher, Ireland’s most visited natural attraction — 214-metre limestone walls dropping vertically into the Atlantic, stretching for 14km along the Clare coastline.
- You’ve seen the photographs but nothing quite prepares you for standing at the top and we will take you beyond the quick photo stop and give you time to walk, explore and experience the cliffs.
- Trip to Aran Islands, horse drawn cart.
- As we travel toward Galway, we pass through the limestone landscape of the Burren National Park, we can even try some rock climbing bouldering here, if you are feeling energetic.
- Continuing further north, we stop to admire Dunguaire Castle, a striking 16th-century tower house overlooking Galway Bay.
- Or, we will enjoy a trip to the Aillwee Burren Experience, a sprawling complex featuring underground caves, a bridged chasm, a waterfall, and an adjacent Birds of Prey area.
- We will stay our third night in Galway, one of Ireland’s most treasured Gems and is yours to enjoy it’s famous live music, excellent restaurants, and vibrant pub culture.
- It’s the perfect way to end another unforgettable day on Ireland’s west coast.
SLEEP 5: GALWAY
DAY 6: SATURDAY
- We will start off with a journey to many of Galway’s Beaches and Bays; Strandhill, Spiddal, Coral Strand as we work our way up to Connemara National Park, which covers some 2,000 hectares of scenic mountains, expanses of bogs, heaths, grasslands and woodlands in County Galway.
- There are several easy nature trails for guests who don’t want a serious hike & there are more active walks also.
- A boat trip along Killary Harbour, Ireland’s only fjord, gives you enormous mountain views without having to climb them!
- Killary Fjord is a 16 kilometer long glacial inlet. It forms a natural border between County Galway and County Mayo in the heart of Connemara and is the only Fjord in Ireland.
- After a long day of activities, sightseeing and exploration we head to Westport for the night.
